Volunteers needed for Derry business project
Local charity Young Enterprise is coming together with The Playtrail and the Tuned In Project to call for local businesspeople to help young people with learning disabilities to develop entrepreneurial skills.
The Playtrail and the Tuned In Project are set to launch the Young Enterprise Team Programme, giving their young people the chance to start their own businesses.
Anne-Marie Donnelly from The Playtrail commented “We’re delighted to be able to bring entrepreneurship skills training to our young people by bringing Young Enterprise into our HOPE and ACT projects in partnership with Ardnashee School & College. What we need now are volunteers with some business experience who would like to mentor our young people as they develop their business ideas.”
Philip Conn, manager of the Tuned In Project echoed these comments “Bringing a business mentor into this experience will really help our young people to engage with the real world of work and entrepreneurship. The benefits of having a role model from the business world are enormous and we hope to have someone involved at the launch of the programme”.
The programme kicks off in late September and will culminate in Young Enterprise Trade Fair events where young people have the chance to trade with the public at venues including Foyleside Shopping Centre and St George’s Market, Belfast.
