Danske Bank becomes Business Beginnings Patron

Enterprise education charity Young Enterprise Northern Ireland and Danske Bank have joined forces to provide over 4,000 10 and 11 year olds in schools across Northern Ireland with real entrepreneurship experience including how they can make a positive impact on climate change.

The Business Beginnings programme, which will run in Primary 7 classes gives pupils the opportunity to start their own business and trade with the public and help catalyse their thinking on how they can adopt greener options with the support of Danske Bank’s volunteer business advisers.

Carol Fitzsimons, Chief Executive of Young Enterprise NI commented:

“We know that for a strong economy tomorrow, we need to invest today in the skills, abilities, and confidence of our young people.  Danske Bank’s support for the Business Beginnings programme will help us to establish and nurture an entrepreneurial spark among some of the youngest in our society.

“Business Beginnings allows young people to experience all aspects of business from ideation, through to sales and managing teams and finances.  It also helps individual pupils to understand their unique strengths and how they can contribute to teams.

“Having Danske Bank on board will ensure we can continue to give young people this incredible experience and inspire them to become the leaders of our future.”

Nicola McCleery, Head of Transaction Banking at Danske Bank commented:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Young Enterprise on the Business Beginnings Programme.   In addition to our existing financial literacy programme Money Smart Junior that we offer to primary schools, it’s really brilliant that we can now play a role in helping primary school children become future entrepreneurs and create new responsible and more sustainable products.
