Ingenuity take to the hills in support of Young Enterprise NI
A group of adventurers from Comber based consultancy firm, Ingenuity, are walking the West Highland Way in Scotland in support of local business education charity Young Enterprise Northern Ireland. Led by Managing Director at Ingenuity Ian Laverty, the group will start the 130 mile walk on 12 September.
Ingenuity employees have been volunteering with Young Enterprise NI for the past few years, mentoring young people through the Young Enterprise Company Programme, as well as speaking at entrepreneurship sessions in schools. Ian commented: “Our company has given up our consultants’ time to mentor businesses within schools through the Young Enterprise Programme for a number of years. This year we decided to make Young Enterprise NI our company charity and go one step further than giving time by trying to raise some money for the charity.
“Most people don’t realise that Young Enterprise is a charity. It does fantastic work and their work is in keeping with the very services that we offer businesses – advice, guidance and practical help. It seemed like a perfect fit. We’ve been training for our 130 mile hike along the West Highland Way, starting in Glasgow and finishing 6 days later at the top of Ben Nevis. I think we’re ready. All we need now is good weather but as you’ll see we’ve geared up for the worst!”
Fundraising Manager for Young Enterprise, Jennifer McGivern said, “We’re delighted that Ingenuity are taking on this challenge to support more young people to get involved in developing their entrepreneurial skills. For every £10 they raise, one more young person will be able to get involved in a Young Enterprise programme. It is great to see local business leaders stepping up to the challenge of supporting the charity and really working to encourage the next generation of local entrepreneurs.”
