Jake calls for local charity support in Lisburn

Young Enterprise alumnus, Jake Lewis from Lisburn is rallying behind the charity and calling for local people to get involved.

The charity brings entrepreneurship skills programmes to young people across Northern Ireland and Jake, now studying in his final year at Friends’ School, is just one of more than 100,000 young people who learned new skills with their support last year.

He commented “Taking part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme was a real life-changing experience for me.  My schoolmates and I started our own business and learned the practical business and life skills we’ll need to be successful in our future education and careers.

“During my experience with Young Enterprise I was thankful to have Roger Kennedy (Aiken Kennedy Financial Planning) and Gavin Partridge (Capita) volunteer to come into school and mentor our company.  Young Enterprise needs more people like Gavin and Roger who can give anything from just an hour of their time to get involved with their work in our local schools.

“I would urge anyone with even a little business experience that they can pass on to our next generation to get in touch and support this really exciting and worthwhile cause.”

Young Enterprise has immediate volunteering opportunities at Wallace High School, Lisnagarvey High School and other schools across the Lisburn and Castlereagh area. To get involved, contact Ruth Davidson at ruth.davidson@yeni.co.uk or call 028 9032 7003.  Find out more at yeni.co.uk/getinvolved.

Young Enterprise NI is part funded by the Department of Education.
